FRIENDS OF JENNY CREEK
OUR LATEST EFFORTS
April - May 2025
Hello Friends of Jenny Creek...
A small group of us headed to the Earth Day Redding Event in Caldwell Park on Saturday, April 19th.
We rented a booth, donated by a FJC member, set up our canopy provided by another member and set up our FJC information! We had a great day meeting many interested folks, the weather was wonderful and we got a lot of support from passers by. We signed another 25 people to our PETITION and educated the public about protecting the Jenny Creek open space environment of our community. We met folks from the Redding Trail Alliance at the Earth Day Redding and hope to make further meetings with them to see how they are involved with this project and how FJC can work with them in a positive way.
We also introduced our Alternate Trail Routes ideas to folks, which was favorably received. We are preparing the proposal document and also a PowerPoint Presentation to eventually present to the Community Services Advisory Committee, the Planning Commission and if needed onto the City Council. We are, therefore, in the throes of creating the PowerPoint Presentation of our Alternate Trail Proposal! We will need volunteers to help do this and also we will need more photos of the Jenny Creek Greenbelt/Open Space, habitat, wildlife including birds and Jenny Creek itself.
Please contact Marcía if you have some time to help…530.246.0550
We need more helpers to continue this work!
Keeping in contact with the City of Redding--
We are continuing to monitor movement from the city on their ETA of releasing the final Initial Study for their proposed Jenny Creek Trail project. As yet, we have been told it is not finished yet. Also, we keep in contact with the Planning Department for information on the Initial Study and if the City Parks and Trails has gotten to the point of submitting their final studies for Application and Review with the planning and CEQA review process.
We need continued HELP to keep a presence in our community. Your volunteering to do phone calls, canvassing, tech help with PowerPoint, or tabling at the Farmers Market and other places around our community, and to show up at meetings and City Council meetings and help us help the Jenny Creek open space remain open and environmentally supporting the habitat, wildlife, flora, fauna, birds and humans!
Please give us a call or email your comments/ideas!
